A Day to Remember at Forestside: The Difference Community Transport Makes

At DART Partnership, we know that a day out is about much more than simply getting from A to B. For many of our service users, our organised day trips provide an opportunity to socialise, make new memories and enjoy experiences that would otherwise be out of reach.

Recently, we took a group of our service users to Forestside Shopping Centre in Belfast, where everyone enjoyed browsing the shops, having lunch and spending quality time together. The smiles on everyone's faces throughout the day were a reminder of just how important these outings are.

Many of the people who travel with us live in rural areas, where public transport is either unavailable or unsuitable for their needs. Some of our passengers have disabilities that make using mainstream public transport difficult, while others are unable to travel independently. Without community transport, many would simply miss out on opportunities to get out and about.

Our day trips are about far more than shopping. They help to reduce loneliness and social isolation by bringing people together. Over time, many of our passengers have formed genuine friendships through travelling with DART. What often starts as a shared journey becomes a chance to catch up with friends, enjoy a laugh together and look forward to the next outing.

These trips also give people something different to enjoy. A change of scenery, a meal out, or simply spending time in a busy shopping centre can have a positive impact on wellbeing and confidence. For many, it's the highlight of their month.

Of course, none of this would be possible without our dedicated team of drivers, who go above and beyond to make every journey safe, comfortable and enjoyable.
