A Little Bag, A Big Difference

Sometimes it's the smallest gestures that leave the biggest impact.

Every day she is being collected, service user Bridget prepares a little brown paper bag for each of our drivers. Inside are their favourite treats, a drink, sweets, crisps, biscuits, and even a piece of fruit. What makes it even more special is that Bridget knows every driver's favourites and always makes sure she knows who is collecting her, so their bag is ready and waiting.

It's a simple act of kindness, but one that means so much to our team. Every bag is filled with thoughtfulness, appreciation, and gratitude.

When we thanked Bridget for everything she does, she simply smiled and said,

"The drivers are so good to me. I'd be lost without the service."

She also shared something that perfectly sums up the way she lives her life:

"I like to be kind to everyone because everyone is dealing with their own things."

Despite facing challenges with her own health and eyesight, Bridget continues to inspire us with her positive outlook. Every morning she wakes up thankful for everything she has, everything she can still do, and, most importantly, for her family.

Bridget's kindness doesn't stop at thoughtful gifts. She fills our days with laughter too. One day she had us all in stitches when she looked at one of our drivers, John, and said:

"John is like my wonderbra… he gives me a great lift!"

Moments like these remind us why Bridget is so special..

At DART, we often talk about the difference kindness can make. Bridget lives that every single day. Her generosity, humour and appreciation remind us that caring for one another doesn't have to be complicated,

it can be as simple as a little brown bag prepared with love.

Bridget, thank you for putting smiles on our faces every day. We feel incredibly lucky to know you, and we're so grateful for everything you do.
