💛 Loneliness Awareness Week: Little Hands, Big Hearts

This Loneliness Awareness Week, we wanted to do something that truly spoke to the heart of what community transport is all about — connection, kindness, and letting people know they matter. So, we reached out to our friends at St Francis Primary School in Lurgan with a simple idea: could their pupils make some cheerful cards for our DART service users?

We weren’t expecting quite so many.

We definitely weren’t expecting such stunning, thoughtful creations.

And we absolutely weren’t expecting to be so moved.

Yesterday, when the bundles of cards arrived our team were amazed. Each one was handmade with love, colourful, creative and full of the kind of gentle, thoughtful messages that really stay with you. It’s hard to explain the power of a kind word from a child who simply wants to brighten someone’s day.

This week, our drivers will be handing them out to passengers, many of whom live alone or face daily challenges. These cards will do far more than decorate fridges or mantelpieces. They’ll remind someone they’re seen, valued and thought of.

Loneliness doesn’t discriminate.

It’s not just something that affects the elderly or people with disabilities. It can touch anyone — young or old, in the middle of a crowd or home alone. That’s why small acts like this matter so much.

We’re big believers that change doesn’t always come from grand gestures. Sometimes, it’s a child’s drawing, a hand-delivered card, or a smile from the driver that makes all the difference.

To the pupils and staff of St Francis Primary School — thank you so much!

You’ve helped us spread joy in a truly meaningful way. 💛
