WELL DONE TO THESE SRC GRADUATES! Celebrating Achievement, Independence & Community

Last Thursday and Friday marked a very special occasion for a number of DART passengers who graduated from Southern Regional College in Banbridge and Lurgan.

For many of these students, attending SRC has been about far more than education. It has provided routine, friendships, confidence, independence, and the opportunity to be part of their community.

One particularly special milestone was Noel’s graduation after an incredible 19 years attending SRC. This was a huge moment not only for Noel, but also for his family and everyone who has supported him throughout the years.

At DART, it has been a privilege to support these students in accessing further education safely and reliably each day. While we may have only been the transport provider, being part of their weekly routine means we have watched many of them grow in confidence and independence over the years and we will truly miss these familiar faces.

To celebrate their achievements, our team made sure each graduate received a balloon and a card wishing them well for the future as they headed off to their graduation ceremonies.

Community transport is so much more than a mode of transport. For adults with learning disabilities, services like DART can be a lifeline for both individuals and their families. Many passengers would not be able to safely access mainstream public transport independently, particularly in rural areas where transport options can be limited.

Having access to safe, supportive, and familiar transport allows people to maintain routines, attend education, build friendships, and feel part of something bigger. It gives individuals confidence and independence, while also providing reassurance to families that their loved ones are travelling safely with people who understand their needs.

Every journey matters, and we are incredibly proud to have played a small part in helping these students reach such an important milestone.
