Connecting with Richmount Rural Community

Last week, DART had the pleasure of attending an information session with the Richmount Rural Community members. It was a fantastic opportunity to share more about the transport options we provide and to hear directly from local residents about the challenges they face when it comes to getting around.

We talked about our Dial-a-Lift and Disability Action Transport Service (DATS), which provide accessible and affordable travel for people who may otherwise struggle to get to appointments, shops, or community activities. We also discussed our Motability-funded Access Plus service, which offers free accessible transport and driver training for individuals and groups with additional needs.

For many rural residents, transport remains one of the biggest barriers to staying connected, accessing healthcare, attending social activities, or simply enjoying everyday independence. By bringing these services together, DART is working to reduce isolation, support carers and families, and make sure no one is left behind because of where they live or their mobility needs.

The session was also a chance to answer questions, share practical information on how to book services, and highlight the wider benefits that accessible community transport can bring. It was wonderful to meet so many new faces, and we’re excited about building stronger connections with the Richmount community going forward.
