Last Friday, residents from Templar Court in Lurgan enjoyed a wonderful day out to Titanic Belfast, accompanied by our awesome driver Phil. Templar Court is an independent living scheme managed by Clanmil Housing Association, providing a welcoming and supportive community for older residents.
Trips like these are about so much more than simply getting out for the day, they play an important role in supporting the wellbeing, happiness and independence of older people. For many residents, opportunities to visit places of interest, socialise with friends, and enjoy new experiences can have a hugely positive impact on both mental and physical health.

Days out help reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation, something many elderly people can face, especially during quieter periods at home. Sharing experiences together encourages conversation, laughter and connection, helping to strengthen friendships and build a real sense of community among residents.
Visiting somewhere as iconic and interactive as Titanic Belfast also provides valuable mental stimulation. Learning, reminiscing and engaging with history can spark memories and conversations, while simply being in a new environment can boost confidence and mood. Experiences like this encourage residents to remain active, engaged and connected to the wider world around them.

The benefits extend long after the trip itself. Residents often continue chatting about the memories they made together for days and weeks afterwards, helping to create excitement, positivity and anticipation for future activities.
A big thanks to Phil for the fab pics. These outings may seem simple, but they make a real difference in enhancing quality of life and creating meaningful moments for the residents of Templar Court.
